Well, it ain't a manual, that's for sure. But the car could be an early prototype. I'm still more attracted to think the picture is fake nevertheless.

I like the chop/spy shot when I saw it a few months ago and still like it. A wood panel with a aluminum accent stretching along side it makes the car look classy and modern. I hope the final interior looks just like it, except for the dials which remind me of the BMW E46.

Why is the CLK missing the center gear column in the E-Class I heard they are making it like the S-Class, why with the CLK.

I think the lower end models that come standard with a manual transmission will get a center-console shifter. That is unless Mercedes is planning on not offering a manual transmission on the E-Class / CLK.

In the 1950s up until the W123 (1976-1985), Mercedes offered a column shift manual transmission option. It wasn't very popular though on the latter MB's (W116 and W123 specifically even the W114/W115 from the 1960s rarely had it).
