Centennial was being designed for a long time. The look with the 599 is more coincidence because the GM design team has a lot more "history" to look at than a brand new model.

It also doesn't cost as much as them. Keep that in mind. The day the corvette gets "Audi" level materials it will cost as much as the XLR did.

A ZR-1 is over 100K and it has an interior not even worthy of a Cadillac CTS or even less expensive GM cars. A base Corvette is still bascially a 50K car so that excuse doesn't fly anymore. They money they're saving on using pushrod engines needs to be applied to the interior.

Even if it doesn't cost as much as a Porsche/Ferrari/Lambo/Audi and soon Mercedes/Lexus sports cars the interior doesn't match up for its own price, regardless of what the competition charges. A 50K car should have a 50K car interior, double that for the 100K ZR-1.

And the XLR was still behind its competitors too.

Yes, the price has gone up for the Corvettes. Probably because GM has found that it can. The Corevettes must now take a few big steps in the (perceived) quality department, otherwise they cannot be regarded as bargains anymore.

The ZR-1 costs over 100K because of performance, not because of materials used. Yes, a base corvette is 50K but it's not like it sells in Camaro numbers for them to be putting in Audi level interiors. Historically, the Corvette was only about performance and nothing else, give they weren't that great in the corners.

As for GM saving money using Pushrods. Is Porsche saving money recycling their design for the past 50 years? No, because they are pushing that same design as far as current technology can take them. Same thing with GM's pushrod engine. They are taking that old school tech as far as possible. I understand the boners that people get over European engines on this board but has anyone taken a serious look as the LS9? People are busting a nut because BMW figured out how to bypass a vents (I'm dumbing it down) for the new X5/6M car but this badass pushrod is looked down upon?

The Corvette has always been a "Performance" Bargain, not your overall bargain. Everyone and their moms' know what you're trading in for performance when you buy a Corvette, and that is interior design. So, if you (generic you, not actual you) are bitching about the interior then the Corvette isn't for you in the first place.

I'm not saying that they shouldn't upgrade the interior, but let's not put the whole F__king car down for something that everyone knows the car isn't about. That's like bitching that Murci only gets 7mpg and Lambo should do more to bring it at 18-19mpg. C'mon, we all know that's not what it's about. If that's what matters to you, please buy something else.

The reason why a Corvette ZR-1 costs 100K is irrelevant and isn't the issue.

A Corvette (especially a ZR1) is still an expensive car and it should be built like one. When a Chevy SUV has a better interior than a 50K sports car then you have a problem. Cheap, smelly plastic interiors are not acceptable anymore don't care what the car costs.

A ZR-1 costs 100K because of performance, so what its still 100K and it shouldn't smell like the inside of an Elmers Glue bottle either.

Porsche's use of the same design for the 911 has absolutely nothing to do with what I'm talking about. A Porsche is built much better and uses cutting edge technology a Vette doesn't. A Corvette uses and old-school pushrod V8 and that was part of the reason they were historically much cheaper than the competition, but now a Vette can cost anywhere from 50K to over a 100K and its time for the rest of the car to catch up with those prices.

The Corvette doesn't have have an "Audi level" interior, but it needs have one of GM's best interiors, not one of its worst as it has now. GM can't build an Audi level interior anyway, they don't have the work ethic or system in place to do that. A 100K Corvette should have the same steering wheel from a 19K Chevy Cobalt and have an interior that is of less quality than a Chevy Equinox.

There is so much wrong with this post that I'm not even gonna bother with an explanation. All I have to say to you is...stick to something else, Corvette ain't for you.

Nope.

I've always liked and desired a Corvette, but its time to quit making excuses for a ratty interior based on the fact that it doesn't cost as much as other sports cars. Thats the old, tired, lame GM excuse making GM.

Still doesn't cost as much as a lot of other sports cars, yet it isn't cheap either at 50K up to 100K....then it should have an interior at least close to that price, thats all. Not asking for an Audi/Aston-Martin level interior, just something better than a run of the mill Chevy. The Corvette has some of the worst seats on the market, now tell me we're supposed to have shyt seats because it cost less than a Porsche. There is no excuse for that. Other GM cars have much better seats.
