British carmaker Arash Cars has announced plans for the new AF-8, a mid-engined special that will join the 911-rivaling Farbio GTS and the extreme AF-10 supercar in the niche brand’s lineup. Expected to be priced around the £120,000 mark, the new AF-8, like its AF-10 big brother, will be powered by GM’s highly sought after 7.0L ZO6 V8 engine. The big-cube engine kept in its stock form, producing a healthy 500hp versus the modified AF-10’s 550hp. With a 0-60mph time of 3.4s, owners will hardly notice any difference between these two monsters.

The AF-8 will weigh about 1200-1300kg (2600-2800lb), a slight 10% increase over the AF-10, but its kerb weight is still relatively low in comparison with most other sports cars in production. To achieve the low mass, the body and part of the chassis are made of carbon fibre - maniac drivers can also opt for carbon ceramic brake discs to shave even more weight.

Unlike the AF-10, the AF-8 is targeted at real life drivers that will use the car in places other than the race track. For that reason, it features comfort items like air conditioning and a touchscreen GPS navigator. Given its civilised nature, safety elements such as anti-lock brakes, traction control and airbags are also standard.
