On the way back home from getting a rather ridiculously expensive quote for an oil change for my car, I stopped by the local Mini/BMW center to check out the R53 MCS coupe since I have only driven the cab. (not a big fan of cabrios, nice to look at though). Anyways, they had a blk/blk MCS w/ web spoke wheels, loaded w/ pretty much everything I'd want on my very own MCS. The interior is incredibly roomy, I think everyone is fooled looking from the outside in as to how much room this car truly has. I put the oversized sunroof back to get the ultimate MCS enthusiast driving experience on this beautiful sunny SoCal day. Reading reviews of the new R56 MCS, I've read quite a bit about how more refined the new car is over the "old one" (still very fresh in my mind, this current car), but this car feels quite refined in it's own right; direct, on point steering w/ loads of feel, easy but sporty ride w/ the sports plus suspension (std. on the R53 MCS), and a rather growly exhuast note when driven enthusiastically, and a smooth responding engine. Since I have yet to drive the R56, I obviously can't make a good comparision, but I can say that it will have to be truly good to advance the MCS from the current car. The MCS isn't sports car fast, but more than adequate for it's weight and size, you put your foot down and the engine responds w/ immediacy to your right foots pedal inputi. I've driven quite a few cars, Porsches, BMW's, fast Audi's, and not only does the MCS out handle some of them but runs with the best of them!!!!!! It's very hard to see what this car is lacking in any respect, from any angle you're looking, this car has pro's in spades, well except for interior space, but that's what the upcoming "Traveller" will be for. It's also easy to see why and how the Mini has been such a sucess; exclusivity through a controlled output and small sitting inventory( thus creating a very large and strong demand), classic Mini/ gender neutral design, great performance and handling, high degree of personalization, and a surplus of standard content. Dare I say this a FWD BMW??? To one degree or another, however you look at it, "yes".

O yeh, and I'm 200% this will be my next car.
Period.
