BUMP!! When is the facelift coming. I'm thinking of placing an order not too far from now.

motoringfile.com says following (in their article about the special edition minis)
Quote:
As we’ve reported previously MINI will be debuting two special edition models in May this year at MINI United in Silverstone England. But now we have details on the names and the specification:

Mayfair: Hot Chocolate body color with unique wheels, interior trim and badges
Camden: Silver White (R52 Sidewalk color) with unique wheels, interior trim and badges

Like the 2006 special edition MINIs, don’t expect any mechanical differences under the hood. Instead look for these to send out the R56 out in style before it’s mid life-cycle refresh either late this year or early next.
still, info on future(facelift,?spacebox?,...) minis are pretty rare
come on creative marketing give us some bones

I dont think the facelift is coming this year anymore. Only motoringfile talked it up. Its not enough sources.

I doubt BMW would give it any more power than it already has.

I drove a 2008 Cooper S for about 2 weeks last month. I just LOVE how that engine pulls. I dont know what it is, but it feels faster than it actually is. The car did suffer a bit from torque steer? Did you just get use to it?

Toque steer have been widely discussed on MINI boards and it seems like the standard suspension together with RFT-tyres will render the most significant amount of torque steer. In my case I have the JCW suspension and that dramatically reduces the phenomenon. Furthermore, it seems like cars not equipped with an LSD will suffer more.

I have really no trouble with TS, you notice it but it is not like you are struggling to command the wheel.

I have pretty much the same impression as Dr Dunkel. I test drove a Clubman S with sports suspension but without LSD last summer, and you could really feel the torque steer on that one. In my hatchback S, with both SS and LSD, there's practically nothing...

I did never know that the pretty gentle LSD could do that much difference. It has also been great this winter, no problem getting out of snowed in parking lots and such.

Another great thing is that it is the cheapest way to get a BMW Group vehicle with an LSD, the next step is a BMW M3 :-)
