Mini John Cooper Works vs. Cooper S with JCW kit

Mini John Cooper Works
Price: SGD149,000
Power: 211bhp
Torque: 260Nm (280Nm overboost)
0-100km/h: 6.5 seconds

Mini Cooper S with John Cooper Works kit (locally-fitted)
Price: SGD132,000
Power: 193bhp
Torque: 260Nm (280Nm overboost) - correct me if I'm wrong
0-100km/h: ?

Which one would you choose and why?

I've tried both and the Cooper S with the JCW kit certainly doesn't lack for anything. In fact, I could hardly discern the extra power the Mini JCW has in the urban driving conditions of our roads. Which makes me wonder whether it's really worth it paying for the Mini JCW, which commands a 20,000+/- premium. I could kit out a Cooper S with the JCW kit, the wonderful JCW seats and exhaust system for less. Then again, it would never be a true-blue JCW.

Would appreciate your opinions.

Re: Mini John Cooper Works vs. Cooper S with JCW kit

i would choose the JCW(not the kit)
i have heard(mp3) both models and the JCW convinced me in these terms. the exhaust is barking alittle more, it reminds alittle on the old supercharged JCW.
the JCW also offers alot of other standard extras , like the piano interieur, the anthracit interieur sky, the Challenge 17inch rims and the JCW breaks.
further i think that the specific engine enhancements of the JCW make it alittle more resistant compared to the kit.
some even say that the JCW Kit is more a exhaust upgrade then an engine upgrade, because most of the horse powers are achieved thru the ECU

Re: Mini John Cooper Works vs. Cooper S with JCW kit

If money wasnt a problem, the JCW of course. However, you cant go wrong with either one. As far as power goes, I think the power difference is also very nominal, it probably does make a difference but not a huge one.

EDIT: James, are u considering this over the Golf GTi?

This is one of my choices. Right now I'm pondering over a GTI (MkV or MkVI), a Scirocco, A Renault Clio R27, a Civic Type-R and a JCW Mini. Confused as ever.

WOW, all those cars are amazing in their own ways, I can only imagine how difficult a choice its going to be.

Re: Mini John Cooper Works vs. Cooper S with JCW kit

what blue are you considering ?
cause lighting blue is going to be killed in favour of horizone blue (which is grey-bluish)
also astro black, which has some bluish reflextions is going to be exchanged with midnight black (a true metallic black)
but laser blue is staying

what roof colors would you consider ?

Probably the rear JCW. There are probably little things here and there that are different. The Scirocco would be awesome too, big fan of that car.

Blue - did I mention blue?

I was thinking Pepper White.

That's the problem - I was wondering if anyone here would know what the little things are. Those that make the difference.
