A couple of camouflaged MINIs have been spotted outside a Starbucks in LA. The questionable pair appear to have the vented Cooper S bonnet, but only a single ‘regular’ Cooper tailpipe and rims.
There have been rumours of a super-hot MINI in the pipeline, and perhaps the tape is covering extra ducts? To be honest, no one seems to know what’s going on with this gimp-masked pair. These are US specific MINI Cooper & Cooper S with EfficientDynaimcs features.
As you know MINI with ED will debut in August here in Europe, and also US market is planned to get ED as soon as possible. Latest tests are being done - as you can see.
Look at the pics again: 2 cars. 1 Cooper S - with double exhaust pipes & specific S bonnet & air intakes, 1 Cooper with regular bonnet & single exhaust pipe. | | | | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to EnI For This Useful Post: | | | Connoisseur

Just another example of BMW's consistency, but this time in product strategy; instead of making "Efficient Dynamics" a BMW brand only philosophy it's a BMW Group strategy to increase the operating efficiency of all of the products within the groups brand portfolios, though I wouldn't expect too see any cars from Rolls Royce equipped with the technology. But who knows what the future holds? | | | | | Contributor

Also RR models will get ED features in the future ... Even a RR active hybrid is being considered.
Lower fuel consumption never hurts - when performance stays the same, or it is even improved.
Mind that current ED features (auto Stop & Start, BER, ...) are same features that can be found in hybrid cars. The only difference is BMW Group cars come without electric drive (& battery). | | | | | Aficionado

The ED features will help BMW loads, the competition haven't at the moment got anything similar, and currently with environmental concerns and all that, I'm sure it will help BMW a lot with marketing and all that!
We've already seen what amazing effects these features have had on the Mini Cooper D, I can imagine them having huge effects on the V8 and V12 models! | | | | | Contributor
