Motor Trend - First Drive: 2009 Bentley Continental Flying Spur/Flying Spur Speed

Since its introduction as a 2006 model, the Bentley Continental Flying Spur has delighted the well-heeled with immense performance, supreme refinement, and seemingly boundless customization. Naturally, for 2009, Bentley has done to the Flying Spur what any rational ultraluxury brand would do-given it more performance, more refinement, more customization, and, at $180,395, more bottom line.

And I hate that they are because other than their styling, these are great cars. They have ridiculous performance, great interiors, and most of all they're German engineered. German engineering with British-style interior/luxury, its a stunning combination, hence styling couldn't hold them back and they've been an unbelievable success for Bentley. Before now Bentley was an occasional Arnage here and there and every 5 years you might have seen an Azure, but now I see "Bentleys" like every 2-3 days.

^ The CGT family is just a glorified phaeton in three different shapes,i'd never take the flying spur over a S65/600.

It always has, and still blows my mind that people dislike the styling of the CGT. To me it's a gobsmackingly handsome car that does an admirable job of linking Bentley's design heritage with present day trends.

Seems like most of us here expect Bentleys to look like anachronistic parade floats until the end of time.

No it's not that,it's about completely losing it's identity and becoming a true german car in terms of design(which is not the best IMHO) and tech used. The only thing that is Bentley about the CGT is the badge.
