you can get a nice Sony vaio with almost everything in it for the same money... Or 100 standard MS keyboards

Good effort Rob but engadget.com is the best gadget blog on the net. Gizmondo is pretty good too, but engadget are the quickest, cover just about everything and have interesting and entertaining journalism.

Beside making your friends drool the keyboard does have a very useful purpose. The whole idea of the keyboard is for it to change with which ever software you're using. If you're playing a game the letters will change into symbols representing different features or actions in the game. If you're using photoshop some of the symbols might turn into paint brushes, line draw etc.

I'm sorry, but that is still rather pointless. I mean, how long does it take for you to learn to remember which keys control which actions?

The only real use for the feature that I could think of is changing between two alphabet sets - other than that, it's just an expensive toy. A nice one I wouldn't mind owning (not that I'd ever pay $1,500 for it), but a toy nevertheless.

Rememberingg all the keys for software like Photoshop, Command&Conqueer 3, Flash MX and other software takes times. It is here were the Optimus keyboard comes in hand.

The thing about this keyboard is that an actual working model hasn't been made yet. It's still concept at the moment, and every "finished" pic is just computer graphics.

The end product may not look as spiffy as the graphics make out.. Oh well, up to the designer to get it right..
Won't catch me paying $1500 for a keyboard, though, no matter how cool or "time-saving" it might be.
