I totally agree Lu, I don't like those aluminium-coloured C pillars and rear section either.

you're all so frigin' wrong; this car will toooootally rock. You know why? because it looks good. It looks better than the normal mini, with it's longer body, it's more practical than other hatchbacks with the doors, it's more trendy than other hatchbacks, it's a mini.

And most importantly, it looks like a quality product, a premium car, a gadget, this car will sell like hot cakes, it's the ipod of the automotive world.

Mini Clubman to debut in Los Angeles

The latest version of BMW's iconic Mini, the extendet-lenght Clubman, will now debut at the Los Angeles International Auto Show in November, rather than January's North American International Auto Show in Detroit, according to MotoringFile. The vehicle will first be shown to the public at the Frankfurt show in September.
This will be the first season for the Los Angeles show to occur before the other major United States auto shows and already the Detroit show is losing some of its introductions. The first major U.S. auto show for manufacturers is the State Fair of Texas show, but it is generally reserved for truck introductions and special edition models, rather than all-new cars. The next big show has traditionally been Detroit in January, followed shortly thereafter by Los Angeles, Chicago and New York.

Not at all.

IRL the painted pillars look very(!) classy - in both variants. Silver or black. Silver looks like matted aluminium, while the black one looks like "Shadowline" trim on BMW cars.

I have more issue with empty-looking area between rear bumper & tail door handles. IMO a huge MINI badge should be put there - centrally, in two halves, one half on the left tail door, one on the right one.

I've seen a handful of clubman pictures and the pillars look bland, especially with some colour combinations. The side mirrors and the roof are already painted in another colour, that's enough.

The reason I don't like the painted pillars is because I don't find the touch to be genuine. It's one of those "after-thought"-ideas you come up with when you don't know what to do with an object but desperately want to add something to it in order to make it look new and different from an existing product.

I just don't think it adds anything to the design. It just clutters the rear. Giving the tail lights a new design would have been enough. The rear does look a little premature but with a blue body color and silver pillars the car does look okay. I would have preferred clear indicators though.
