Isn't the American dream something you dream off and you try and chase but never happens?

hmmm well that's what I've heard that the CLS is like, .. maybe it was negative criticism ?
But I doubt that, can be a metaphor ?

When I read Audi A7 is going to be CLS rival... I can only laught. I think the next CLS will be a step upper current CLS and future A7. I think it will be based on S-Class instead of E-Class.

In my opinion, the CS Concept is not only the best looking 4 dr coupe, it is actually the best looking car I´ve ever seen.

Lets hope BMW won´t mess up the excelence of the Concept with the production version, and lets hope Mercedes makes the next CLS more rival of the future models arriving.

What makes you guys think the new one is going to be based on the S-class platform. Judging by the size that looks like the E-class platform to be.

Because of the new rivals, wich are positioned over the CLS.

Positioning is irrelevant. Just because the CS, Panamera and Rapide are positioned higher doesn't mean that MB has to escalate the positioning of the CLS. The car is well positioned where it is now, sexy but yet within reach for most people making it relatively cheap to manufacturer since it shares underpinnings and components with the intensely mass produced E-class. The CS and Rapide compete in a segment of their own while the Panamera will be in between the A7/CLS and Rapide/CS when it comes to pricing.

If it would have been based on the new S-class then MB would have been using the S-class body for the mule since the CLS body is way too small for the S-class platform.

I based it on the article on the first page it says:

The car will feature a wider track, as indicated by the extended wheel arches seen on this test mule, and according to insiders its platform will be borrowed from the current S-Class sedan flagship.

This car looks much to large to be considered a CLS rival!


A7 on the other hand looks like a true rival imho!

The next CLS will be incredible. Since it is sharing its platform with the S class, Im expecting an S class price tag too. But to compete with BMW's Concept CS and the AM Rapide it will have to grow in size and and the interior will have to be on par with the S class which the current CLS is definetly not. Mercedes definetly needs to take there time with this one because the BMW Concept CS is one of the best looking cars ive seen, so they have very stiff competition.

Hmmm, except both Rapide and CS have very similar boot. So I am not sure how one is coupe like and other is not cause of the boot. Of course they both don't have the silhouette of a bow (or banana), but I don't think that is what coupes are about either. Most traditional front engined coupes have similar boots like 599GTB or any DB9 or Nissan GTR, they all have a small stub boot very similar to what the CS or Rapide sports.
