Hehe!!! You are absolutely right!! It's just the symbol...over 48 % of the new registered cars were diesels! Also people, where a normal car would be more efficient because of running costs, are driving diesel models. I couldn't understand it. But my dad drives around 40.000 + km in a year, and then a diesel is economical. Fast autobahn trips...etc...

Yes, a 320 CDi with the AMG package. Perfect. This type of car is perfect with a large diesel. I can't imagine why they don't make a CLS 420CDi...

I give up. We (I) never get what we (I) really want...BMW and MB are poisoning me to a slow death showing what will never be made available here.....(sigh)

I know, this thread is titled with the "280" - but can you remember Christian, AMS tested a "prototype" of the CLS with the 420 CDI engine. Sadly, they never bring it to the market. I think, it's because the E 420 CDI was already extremely rare. It got less registrations then the E 63 AMG!!

It would have sold poorly. Very poorly.

Yes Wimmer, I think I should pack up and move back to England...or Germany...I have family living in both countries.

Yes, three or four years ago it would have gone the same way as the E420CDi, but today I think it would have stood a chance.

Better pick Germany. England doesn't Autobahns.
