Well EVO is a all-out sport magazine in most of their positions/thinking so a non-AMG Mercedes (unless it is a S-Class) isn't going to peg their meter. The CLK is starting to show its age too.

Agreed.

Also, the CLK isn't a true sports car. It was designed to be a luxury cruiser with sporty pretensions, and it can be driven sporty. Of course, if you have professional sportscar drivers (like the guys who work for EVO) drive it around, you'll hear nothing but complaints. Too soft, no sporty enough etc.

They never take into consideration what the car was made to do. And that's my gripe with most car magazines these days.

Sorry to say, but that is the most clumsy article I`ve come across this year!
Very ham-handed coming from an automotive journalist. I know some 10 to 13 year olds who could come up with a more convincing and educated review than this short-handed bs.

I`m by no means bashing the creater of the thread, just the article.

Exactly! See what EVO did to the 450SEL 6.9... They totally abused it.

Agreed. EVO does this a lot, they will give a vehicle a not so good rating because it isn't a race car. If they judged the vehicle for what it is then it might pick up a better score.

DB9 for example: Yes it doesn't have the connection of some of it's other competition but it's supposed to be a heavy, luxurious cruiser..as a sports car it isn't that good, but as a GT..

Or the S550 for example: "It's good alright but it's no M5", it's not supposed to be

A classic like the 6.9 shouldn't be abused, especially by a bunch of extremely sports-biased journalists like the guys who work for EVO. They should enjoy the car for what it was designed to do, namely high-speed cruising on the Autobahn or Bundestrassen.

I have not read the S65 vs 6.9 article yet, but will do so tonight.

Oh dear God.

What a ridiculous and childish statement to come from supposed "professional drivers / journalists". Anyone who compares an S550 (or an S65 AMG for that matter) to an M5 needs a reality check.

Some people will actually stop reading a magazine because of comments like this. The old "they've lost all credibility" statement comes in handy in times like these.

Lost all reliability by stating a self-evident fact? Now someone who judges a magazine for that needs a reality check as well... (And just to be sure, I don't mean you, Chris! )
