I don't know that BMW M does HP mathes as the competiton increases their ratings, this has not been done in the past and may not happen in the future.. but who knows? Things are always liable to change.

I think BMW is flirting with the boundaries of what is possible considering that they are using NA engines. So they have a V10, then maybe next generation a V12... but it will end there. Eventually, all of the big 3 will hit a ceiling and we will finally be done with the HP war.

Absolutely, unequivocaly TRUE. I think AMG has hit its cap? At least thats what I'd like to think???... probably not. If you gave people hp ratings based off of what they could actualy handle or get their basic utility out of, that would be far more interesting then parading around w/ fireworks for all the "oos and ahs" of the car retarded. Anyone who says "you can never have enough horsepower" is drinking a bottle of B.S.

Warot^ the next gen M cars are going to go turbo to better compete. I think we can expect a turbo charged M5. I think your right about them pushing the limits of N/A engines.

BMw changed horsepowers for M5 E34, from 315hp to 340hp. For M3 E36 they changed from 286hp to 321hp. But I doubt it was cause of the competition.

Its a common thing they buy a car from the competition. I know Volvo bought a M3 E46 for their S60R. When BMW developed M5 E60 they bought a RS6 and a E55.
