From what I know about this, the CLK name is being retired and this car will just be a different nameplate - like CLE or something along those lines.

You can see how the spy pic (actual car) does not have a rear bumper that comes to a pointed crease in the middle under the license plate area. You can also see that the cgi has a spoiler shape integrated into the boot lid, which the real car does not.

See how the trunk, and rear bumper come to a point in the Fascination concept. Something they should have carried over to the CLK. It adds a lot of interest to the rear end.

Renaming the CLK to E-class Coupé makes less sence than this.
Droping the CLK name isn't a smart move after it has established itself this way. Repicking the E-class name as such wouldn't affect the brand or the model negatively, but it would proove that MB is acting pretty schizophrenic these days. Otherwise I can't understand why they renamed the C-Coupé to CLC if they had the attention the reduce the "confusion" with all the abbriviations they have their line-up.
But anyway.. this wouldn't be the first time MB acts like every departement has its own strategy.

^^
I fully agree with you on that. I don't like all these wacky name changes.

I'm glad they didn't, we have seen too much of it already in Cadillac's designs

It may actually be there but cleverly disguised... If you look closely there is a silver tape around the middle of the bumper...

Yeah, you're right. If you look closely at the reflections and shadows you can see the point of the bumper and the protrusion off the lip of the trunk. It might not be as exaggerated as in the chop, though:

That's MB playing a prank on us. Looking at the boot lid and bumper there are zero creases like those seen on the conceptfascination.
