Unfortunately.
Compare the spy pics with these Huckfeldt's "impressions". The resemblance is remarkable! Except for more C-Avantgarde-ish grille on the real car (only 2 thick horizontal bars instead of 3 thiner ones). Even the tail lights have the almost identical shape - perhaps the graphics will be different though. And some other details like exhaust pipes, rear license plate "holder", 3rd brake light ...
But in general Huck is spot on. Again. Mind that recently he got ALL the MB designs right (S, CL, C, GL, GLK, E, ...). | | | | | Expert

Yupp Huckleberry is more or less Nostradamus these days. The front is probably dead accurate as usually but I don't think we will see those 90s Volvo-ish tail lights on the Benz coupe. He's often quite wrong about the tail lights and I hope that the trend will continue. | | | | | Executive

I guess I'm the only one here that sees the same blob the current CLK was when it was under wraps. This is very disappointing to me because the same old tired shape has seemingly been carried over. I was expecting something different. Oh well, guess I'll wait till they show it officially before making up my mind, but it doesn't look promising.

lOl, chech out the boot lid in that last shot. It looks like a mini 6er.
Looks like the clamshell design will find it`s way on the CLK. | | | | | Fanatic

M | Really Merc1? I think the CLK has actually stood the test of time pretty well. Although I did get a bit bored of it for a while (probably because we have one), I once again feel the shape is very elegant and quite pretty.
Very much looking forward to the new CLK as it will likely replace our current one. Hopefully Huck has the rear wrong. | | | | | Banned

There is a bubble shape to the current CLK that just never looked right. It is like they tried to make a baby CL and it didn't quite come out right. The first CLK had a DTM look to it, especially the CLK430. Now with that said, the current CLK has taken a huge turn for the better with the facelift and finally with the Black Series version which looks just right, finally.
I too want a new CLK that is a stunner so you don't have to spend CL money to get a good looking 2-door coupe from Mercedes. We'll see what happens, but those spy pics can't hide the basic shape, only the details are hidden.

The original CLK had an American muscle car look to it. It had gusto as we say hear in the USA. The current is a nice car, it just doesn't have the "look." Unless of course its the Black. The fender flares really muscle up this car. All the AMG cars should have those swollen haunches that scream, "i'm fast, I'm bad!"
The rear end on the current is what really dissapoints. From the wayward, uninsprired accents and lines to the Camry taillights, it just says, "afterthought." And it looks like the next one will have a dull hindquarters as well. Sad. I like the front renderings.
Bottom line. The CLK is a C-Class glammed up to squeeze more money out of a few buyers. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
