The W203 coupe didn't sell well with either the C32 or the C30? Diesel AMG.
They would do better just upgrading the interior.

Though A63 and B63 AMG sounds great

Hell no! Mercedes should send all the CLCs to a remote island in the Pacific and nuke em.

Re: Should Mercedes make an AMG version of the CLC?

Interesting proposition, but I agree that such a move likely will not result in a lot a sales and would be a bad move on MB's part.

However, I always wondered what AMG really could do if they tuned the C-coupe to the best of their abilities. With significant suspension re-working, they made the C55 sedan pretty competitive with the E46 M3 on a track. Any AMG tuned C-coupe (or CLC) should be lighter than the C55 sedan, which will only help with every performance aspect.

Although the old W203 chassis COULD be made to be competitive with the best E46 model, I don't know whether it could be made good enough to compete with the newer current competition (although the old C55 is still faster than the 335i on the Ring, which means a "CLC55" will likely be even faster).

However, such a "CLC55" will have no chance with the current E90/92 M3. But it may stack well against the older but current M-coupe or M-roadster with the old 3.2L I6.

Re: Should Mercedes make an AMG version of the CLC?

I don't think they should and I hope they don't. The CLC, A, B class are merc's cheap cars that are offered at low price ranges. If AMG ever does a version of the CLC or even A or B then it would cause conflict to the AMG c class.

1. CLC amg will be cheaper than the amg c class which will reduce their sales
2. CLc amg will probably be faster than the normal c class and the price will be the same and again lowers the sales of c class and everyone will get the clc amg

It's very similar if BMW makes the M1 comparing it to the 3 series line.

Mercedes offered a limited number of C32 AMG Sportcoupes on an on-order-only basis. Needless to say very few were ordered and produced because there simply isn't a profitable market for this kind of car. Why not simply go for a C32 AMG sedan or estate in the first place? Same performance and more interior space and practicality.
And also remember the C 30 CDI AMG Sportcoupé (with the 231hp 5-cylinder diesel engine)!!
In my opinion there is no market for such a car. People who want to get a fast car, will buy a SLK 55 or C 63! Even if the CLC would be cheaper, I think, they couldn't sell any of this car.

I know, you know this car, Christian!! But it shows, that nothing is impossible. So if you have enough many, you can go for a A 63 AMG!! The car would fit perfect to you.

Re: Should Mercedes make an AMG version of the CLC?

I don't understand all the hating towards this poor CLC. it's overpriced, okay, but it's a very good car. And good-looking, too, I saw one and it does look good. Honestly, a CLC is 100.000 times better in every aspect than an A or B-Class.

However, AMG... No, no. Please. AMG has finally understood that it's not here to turn every single MB into the same with more power, but to make fewer cars with extensive chassis mods. AMG has finally understood it should remain quite a rare sight, so please nothing like "an entry-level AMG"!!

I'm glad they ditched the R63 and decided no to make a GL63 AMG.

However, I would love a G-Wagen with a sweet 65 AMG sticker behind it...
