There have been so many rumors and false statements about the B-Class making it to the states, that most people have probably lost interest and faith in the car ever making it stateside. Could these latest “spy shots” indicate a new push my Mercedes to possibly bring the Compact Sports Tourer to the States? While the blurry photo seem like authentic spy shots, they are actually just my cell phone pictures of a Canadian B-Class parked near Seattle, WA. I was very excited once I spotted the car, but once I saw the license plates, almost all the excitement disappeared. Sorry if you actually thought these were real spy shots, although I did feel like a spy photographer circling the B-Class and taking pictures.

I think it is an issue of costs. If MB could get a diesel B-class to the states, I would buy one. The problem is I don't think Mercedes is smart enough to do it. They do zero marketing of diesel. Zero. I don't know what the mpg would be in a B diesel but I would imagine in would be in the mid 40s.

Stick a Smart logo on the thing and sell it as a Smart in the US. If they can sell those little fourtwo turds for $18k, surely people would pay $25k for a diesel B-class that gets better mileage.

The US is really feeling the gas crunch, and Mercedes has no 4 cylinder diesel offerings in the USA. Quit sleep walking Mercedes and get these products to our shores.

Latest rumor is that they will put a 4 cylinder in the C class. The B class would not see, and would lower the image of MB in states. Bad idea to bring it, hope they don't.

You can throw that MB pride out the window with the $5 gas that's coming. Plus, you've got Smart in the US now, and they are not going to be able to survive in the long term with just one car.

Yeah, it's Canadian. I've seen many of them here, I've lost count. I even started a thread about it. We also have a member here who imported one.

tennmb has a point though. With gas prices at an all time high and people scrambling for smaller engine cars, why not slap a Smart badge on it and sell it here? They do it with the Sprinter, why not the B? They should definitely consider this with the next generation B.

Wouldn't most traditional or prospective Mercedes customers in America feel that the brand is cheapening their image with a car like the B-Class?

I think the B-class can find it's place without offending too many of the Grey Poupon crowd.

The original C-coupe hurt the brand because it was cheap looking. I think the high gas prices open the door, and allow a modicum of forgiveness when it comes to introducing a price point car. Trust me, the 1st thing MB needs to do is bring the 4 cyl diesel for the C-Class.

Maybe that B is from Canada, we've had the model for a few years now.
