Perhaps I didn't know about this because the transmission was a flop and didn't sell well and was soon removed from the C-Class models. I suspect that at the same time it was removed from the W168 A-Classes as well, hence I never knew about this.
I've driven a C230 Kompressor Sportcoupe before with this transmission. I didn't really have a problem with it and it worked nicely enough. You could select your own gears without depressing the clutch pedal or you could leave it in " D"rive mode (automatic). |
No, no it's not the Sequentronic. The SQTN is a sequantial transmission, with +/- and auto function.
On the first gen A-Class it worked exactly like a manual, only without clutch pedal. You shifted like in a manual, 1st, 2,d etc..., you had a grille like a manual. Not only + and -, you had the five speeds. Like a manual.
You had no auto function, because you had to put the level on the right gear. It really was a manual, only with an electrical motor for the clutch. And that's all. No motor for the shifting.
