In any case I agree with you about the sport package, you really can`t go wrong with it and with the CL the Sport package it looks almost too close to the CL63 which cuts a few $ if you want that killer look if you have the money.

I think we all think the same way, I maybe wrong but I think 99% of us prefer AMG or M package over the standard trim. Back on topic I think the standout from the CL 63 AMG is the little details of the exterior enhancement, such as the grill which reminds me of old SEC and also the small label on the outer part of the wheels, gorgeus details.

Well it looks as though Vik and Yaz were right. So I guess we have to wait until the next generation SL before we get a SL63 and at that time it will be turbocharged. This will be timed perfectly with the S/CL facelift, which should be 2010-2011.

May I ask why you are so obsessed with AMG to get turbocharged? Are the N/A engines not good or competive enough for you?

No they aren't in the CL/S IMO because the hp is basically the same (500 vs 525) and the torque is less and these new models (CL/S) are heavier. If they were why didn't the SL get the new engine? The only plus I guess is the 7G-Tronic. In the E/CLS there are already questions over whether or not the performance has improved, but I will of course reserve final judgement until all the various roadtests come in.

well, CL is heavy as SL? Must be another reason why SL didnt get the new engine. Hopefully MB will start building ligher cars for the next generations and I really hope the next SL goes on diet.

Development time. It will arrive in 2-3 years I believe.

As for the 55k engine, she's still got some life in her yet. For the new 6.2L, we're only seeing the tip of the iceberg.

I think its because everyone thinks there is so much more that can be extracted from this N/A 6.2 L engine therefore we are trying to guess the future development program.

I think it is good to remember that the weak link is the 7G transmission, I read somewhere before that the engine able to rev up to 8k RPM it just that the transmission cant handle it. Maybe if these extra RPM can be used maybe the engine output will be higher ?

The new SL is coming in 2010.
Every MB model is replaced after 7 years, the SL after 9.
