M6 is more hardcore and sporty while CL65 will be more civilized and smooth. They have different target groups.

Re: New CL class. First official photos.

Design is subjective and even with more power a car can loose from a better handling one.

I 'm saying that CL65 won't "beat" M6 but we will have to see. If the CL weights much more than M6 then the M6 might still be better to drive. Who knows?

Re: New CL class. First official photos.

it can beat it on a track with more straight pieces, but on a track with much turns maybe the m6 wins

Re: New CL class. First official photos.

OMG here we go again, how come everybody is so desperate to see the M6 getting beaten. Every recent new MB model I see MB fans eager to see the M6 getting beaten. M6 wont stand a change on straightlines, neither willl E63/CLS63 do against CL65. Enuff said!
This isnt a M6 competitior, even a CL550 is going to cost more than a M6 and its not like someone is crosshopping between a M6 and a CL65. The price difference is going to be huge and targeting for different people.
BMW dont have a true CL competitior.

Now I suggest everyone forget about the M& for a while and discuss the car instead. Thanks in advance.
Now where are interior shots of this cL?

Re: New CL class. First official photos.

Wow, not even two whole pages of a fantastic post about the long awaited CL class and we're already into a "M6 wil flog it"/"CL65 will flog M6"/"CL looks better"/"blah" stage?

Can we at least get a few pages of meaningful comment about the CL before that happens, please?

---

For what it's worth, I reckon it's come out quite well. From the numerous spy photos, it did seem a little slab sided, but the wheel arches, side creases and the door 'sills' really put paid to that idea.

From the rear, the roof seems a little long, perhaps to increase the rear interior headroom to make it a proper four seater. In a way it seems more spacious than perhaps the CLS. However, from the side it looks fine.

Two more issues; firstly, the bonnet bulges, in the wrong sort of way, at the sides, making the car look a heavier and larger than it need. Secondly, and luckily it's not very apparent here, the way the shoulder crease extends into the taillight and the way it's resolved there makes for a bit of a mess of lines. The way it looks, they could have just let the shoulder crease disappear after it leaves the sheet metal, and it would look fine, IMO.

Anyhow, I like how they've done the bumper here, simple but elegant and decent looking. Much better than the mish-mash that the facelifted E-class bumper turned into.

With Hussein's rims the CL looks great.
When at first I saw the photo..I thought it was okay. Then when I saw that side pic with those rims, I was like

I don't know about the whole car... Gotta take some time to get used to it. But sure it's different
