I know what you're talking about...but it comes alot more from BMW and AUDI fans then from MB fans...you have to remember there are more BMW/AUDI fans who believe a car is only a car if it can handle as it's first priority on here then Mercedes fans. Not to mention, the ludicrous posts about that even if the flippin mirror looks like another car (exaggeration) everyone starts posting pics and starts claiming that MB copied them...BS. I understand that everyone has an opinion but I only value those who have constructive criticism because most just jump on a certain bandwagon and for some reason right now it's really cool to bash MB. And for the Pontiac/6 series thread...if you notice I'm not on there...or at least don't remember ever bashing it.

And I'm not bitching...all I said is that if you don't like it then just say it's not your cup of tea and i don't want to hear about DESIGNS from people who have nothing to do with designs and don't understand the design language.

Yeah, IMO if you really must say that it looks like something, then go ahead and mention it.. once. Keep the pictures few and small, too. I wouldn't want to stifle critique, but seriously, when there's so many "copying" allegations and so much space wasted in this thread about it, then it's getting out of hand.

Plus, most of that Pontiac bashing came from HOH

Anyhow, after my pleasant surprise before, I'm waiting for more pics. Someone mentioned if before, but some of the newer Mercs don't look all-right from all-angles, from some they look good, from some, they don't. I fear that this is the same, here. A real-life version would be most welcome - I hope it will make it out in time for the Sydney Motor Show in October.

Looks great! I think I like it. The overhangs are a bit too long (especially for a coupe) and the rear lights are odd from some angles but overall its a very attractive package. The querter view is nice and the tail is nice. ANother beauty from daimler...Hopefully they continue to use those wheels as well, which are very elegant and go quite well with the car.

I think it's the wheel design of the car in the leaked pics that I dislike the most in the new CL's appearence (along w/ the other things I stated prior to this post that I need not mention again). The wheels look like they belong on something more corporate (or apart of the executive class - the S-class). The CL is all about elegance, the epitome of grand touring.

I actually like those spoked wheels-I must be one of the few. I really think it adds the over-all theme of the car, which is pointing towards elegance like you said. I find it interesting that Mercedes is establishing new design principles that will probably become a permanent trade mark of mercedes design from this generation on.
