Mercedes-Benz CL Special Edition "100 years of trademark"

There is a new Mercedes CL Special Edition! It is calles "100 years of trademark" and comes with some nice gadgets, like AMG sportpackge, 20' rims, designo colour…and a special interior in designo trim…

There is also a little update with new side mirrors and new steering wheel like in the S-Class facelift.

Pagani will become famous soon enough
This release seems ill-mated (or ill-timed) to that of the facelifted S-Class. The foglights and rear exhaust tips are almost an eyesore after the tour-de-force the FL S-Class has been for the past week or so.

In my opinion the CL is still extremely elegant. Well, I hope that it will not gone with to many Christmas at the front. But the new exhaust system will look stunning on the CL!!

The facelift is going to be really something I bet. This car and the SL have been trading places as my favorite Mercedes-Benzes for over 20 years now. Very rarely does a mere Mercedes-Benz "sedan" hold that spot.

I, on the other hand, have always had a hard time justifying an S-class sized car with only two doors. I admit the CL is far more desirable on many aspects, but i am still partial to either an all out two seater like the SL or a four door like the S.

From Motor Trend:

Come June 26, the Mercedes-Benz will be offering a CL 500 Trademark Centenary edition celebrating the Three-Point-Star's 100th anniversary. Yes, you read that correctly, a celebratory model paying homage to the greatness of a logo.

All (poor) humor aside, the Mercedes-Benz logo is one of the most significant and historic around. Prior to unifying on June 28, 1926, Gottlieb Daimler and Carl Benz independently created the world's first automobiles in Germany during the late 19th century. A few years later, they realized their engineering minds could be better used jointly and established the Mercedes-Benz brand. Their logo was comprised of Daimler's Mercedes star and Benz's laurel wreath, as it still is to this day.

The CL 500 seen here wears the logo's most modern rendition, as well as a designo collection livery and AMG Sports Package. Classic plate brass badges adorn the interior's center console that's complemented by rich leathers, piano lacquer and an Alcantara-lined ceiling.

Of the pair, the CL 500 Trademark Centenary looks the the most likely to hit the States. But of course, that doesn't matter to you unless you've got the extra 17,850 euro ($23,293) in your Swiss checking account that Mercedes is charging for the limited run car. For reference, a base CL 500 starts at $107,900.

I'm really wondering if this will be one of those show it now, but offer it after the facelift models? I can't see the current, un-FL CL being sold in a new special edition in June.
