According to my sales rep, I was slotted for a 9/3 production date. Aside from asking him, and getting the customary "we don't have that information" answer, is there a way to track the vehicle's progress, and thereby know when it is shipped to the US, eventually giving me a delivery date? I'm now getting a bit nervous

Don't be nervous, just lower your expectations! That way when ever you get it you'll be

Joe - Go back to your "Build Date" thread and my last post will give you the info to track the car once you have the VIN from your dealer. Insert the VIN in the "Auto Tracking" page, and you can get the vessel name and then follow the ship as it heads to your port VPC. Mercedes, unlike BMW doesn't give you a any info about the car's progress. The dealer DOES get the info and if he is so inclined, can certainly convey the info to you. Once the VIN is assigned, the car usually hits the shipping line quite quickly ! Keep us posted ! Marvin

Dealers don't get tracking data from transport, unless we jump through hoops. We do however get status updates daily through Netstar, which tells us where the car is in the production cycle, when it is built, when it is ready waiting to be shipped, when it is "on the water", at the VPC, etc.
Once the car completes the build date, it is assigned a V.I.N. I suppose you can use that on the website provided by MBZ

The tracking info is provided by the shipping company, once you have the VIN. As mentioned, the MB dealer does get updates through Netstar and some will participate in your excitement by providing the updates, while others are less motivated. As an aside, several years ago I ordered a BMW and they provided an owner's website that provided vehicle production progress on almost a daily basis. I thought that was nice touch.
I'm happy to report that the CL63 has been built, has had a VIN assigned and is at the port, waiting to be loaded on the transport ship. According to my friends MBZFAN and my contact at MB (thanks to MBZFAN) I will use the VIN to track its progress over the Atlantic. I simply can't wait .

Great news Joe ! Please keep us updated on the trip progress. The worst part of the vehicle tracking will be when it arrives at the VPC (Jacksonville?) where it will mysteriously vanish from any tracking until it is released to the dealer. The good news is when it's released, it should be at your dealership within 72 hours. Look out South Beach !
I'm happy to tell you that the car finally reached the US on Oct 8th and has been released for transport, so it's just a matter of getting it down from the port. If I'm lucky, I'll have it tomorrow. Otherwise, it will be next week. I'm hoping for tomorrow .
