The 140 cars were just so overbuilt to the point of being ridiculous. Mercedes may be coming back into their own, but today's S and CL still aren't built like this. Nothing is except the Maybach, which incidently is built on a modified W140 chassis, hence the steam roller weight.

The C126 is probably just about the nicest cars from in 80s. I still think it was Sacco's greatest car design -- his pièce de résistance. | | | | | Contributor

I could never stand the C140 Coupe, ever. It was just so bloated and ugly from the front, side, rear, 3/4 front, 3/4 rear etc. Every angle you looked at this thing from, it was butt-ugly IMO. The C126 SEC's on the other hand were just classy. Low key and classy, just the way owners wanted them to be. | | | | | The Photo Phanatic

It has GRANDPA written all over it.
I once had to drive a CL500/500CL C140 to a customer when I worked for the local dealer and I had trouble keeping this thing straight on straight roads - the steering was completely lifeless. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
