November Debut for Chrysler 300C in Australia!

Chrysler 300C

Chrysler Australia has announced prices for the new 300C sedan, which will go on sale on November 1.

Built at Chrysler's plant in Graz, Austria, the big American rear-wheel-drive sedan will cost $53,990 for the 3.5-litre V6 version and $59,990 for the 5.7-litre Hemi V8 300C, which has a fuel-saving "cylinder deactivation system". This allows the engine to run on only four cylinders under light loads with claimed fuel savings of up to 20 per cent.

Chrysler expects the car to compete with locally produced large cars such as the Ford Fairlane and Holden Statesman, as well as providing an alternative to mid-range European luxury cars.

Standard on the Chrysler 300C V8 are electronic stability control, traction control, 18-inch alloy wheels, xenon headlights, rear parking assistance and leather seats. Front and rear side-curtain airbags are also standard on the more expensive model.

The V6 engine develops 183kW of power and the V8 250kW. Both engines drive through five-speed automatic gearboxes.

The V8 has impressive fuel consumption of 12.1 litres/100km on the combined standard test, while the V6 gets 11.0 litres/100km.

The 300C has gained a five-star rating for frontal safety in the US New Car Assessment Program test and the right-hand-drive versions will be on display at the Sydney motor show in a fortnight.

they are gonna sell out there for sure.... even if its half as popular as they are here, they will be big sellers.

Re: November Debut for Chrysler 300C in Australia!

MJaaFY, I think it's taken so long for the car to get here not only because of the RHD issue, but because Chrysler Australia has spent months doing market research, and making a good case to headquarters that the car will be profitable!

I for one am really looking forward to this thing coming here. Looks like a mafia car in black, and it's probably the only car in the world where I like it when people 'pimp it up'.

Although considerably more expensive than comparable big Australian sedans (GM Holden Commodore, Ford Falcon) The hemi is great value, and is not priced much above performance sedans like Subaru's Liberty, or the Mazdaspeed 6 (and for this you get a hell of a lot more individuality!)
