Every Porsche (except the Cayenne) is made for track purpose. At the moment I use my Cayman S on the track without any further modifications.

Every new Porsche is a mass product. When you want to have a reliable, non-depreciating classic (with modern technics) - go for a 993 (e.g. 993 Carrera 2S) or a 964 (which is very well built).

The Cayman is a reliable car. Some cars of MY 2006 + 2007 had a problem with the clutch. That's all.

That's right.

When you activate the sports-mode you have another throttle response (which is annoying), the exhaust turns louder and the chassis becomes stiffer when your Cayman is equipped with PASM.

lol . To be honest the idea of tracking a car never interested me till now XD.

However, I gotta say your car is gorgeous and I'm pretty envious of it. (yeah I'll probably end up saying it a millions times).

So.. ever get it at max speed?

I was wearing winter tires (limited to 150 mph) until April but last week I had 178 mph on the speedo.

This shows my Croc doing 168 mph:

That.. is beautiful. Nice to hear you can track it pretty often and push it hard without having to be worried about constant repairs... That alone sounds like a dream come true.. I wish my car had more manueverability so to speak in terms of performance.. That way I wouldn't have to worry so much when passing people and what not..

Oh random question on the manual aspects of the car. I am a virgin to manual vehicles (not after tomarrow hopefully when my girlfriends clutch is replaced in her truck).

But, I read one review which stated the Cayman only had two petals.. Were they refering to an automatic version of the Cayman. or does the doppel not need the extra petal? I am somewhat confused as to why a standard would only have 3 petals.. Or if the doppel is more of a mix between an auto and a manual.. sorry if I don't make much sense but, there is a reason I'm confused.

IMO they were referring to the Tiptronic version of the Cayman. The MT version has three pedals.

BTW - the Sportomatic had two pedals. Have a look at this:

ok. so the Doppelkupplung would have 3 petals then.

Now I just have to learn to drive standard that begins tomarrow.

Then again I sorta need to learn how to drive standard anyway.. it would suck if my girlfriend ever became incapacitated while we were out and couldn't drive her truck home..

Low Resell value?

I am somewhat new to the car world.. But, I have looked up local Porsche's Being sold.... It seems like cars with very little mileage on them (16 thousand miles doesn't seem like too much to me).. And they are being sold starting at 20k under the normal sell value?.. I mean I realize the average value of a car drops about 5k or so (if not more) soon as you drive it off the lot...

But, it seems that the Porsche imparticular drops a good bit Am I just reading too much into it?... I would prefer a new Porsche to a used any day of the week.. But, a vehicle which has at least 70k in options being sold for 40k with 16k miles and only 2 maybe 3 years old seems pretty signifigant..

Is the resell value low just because most people aren't in the market for them? or is there some other reason. I originally planned on owning a new Porsche.. however.. it seems like for 16k miles.. the vehicle just got broke in and is just now really ready to be abused..

I mean this is a great example Details of Used 2007 Porsche Cayman, Covington, LA - Yahoo! Autos
it has the stability management, the sport package, EVERYTHING and its only 40k.. at 16k miles..

Is 16k more then I realize in terms of mileage? or is 2 years a longer time then I think?... It seems to me like most of the warrenty is still on the vehicle.. and I'm sure you could probably get them to give it a "certified" warrenty to make sure it last antoher 100k miles...

Or are people just *that* hard on a Porsche that they don't want to risk it going to hell on em after 20 thousand miles?...

No, no the DKG has only two pedals. Like the Tiptronic had.
it's only the manual transmission who has three pedals.

The DKG is a variant (with two clutches, for faster gearchanges) of the automated manual transmission, which is basically a manual with the clutch and gearlever activated by a motor. Therefore only two pedals.

As far as the price is concerned... Any pricey car does drop a huge lot the first two years. Nothing to do with abusing the car or anything, it's just how it is. A car will loose almost till 50% of its values the first two years.
