The Cayman is having a hard time here in the USA. Hard to convince people to pay $10,000 more for a Boxster S without a convertible top. Should be priced less than a Boxster S. Most people here want the style over the substance unfortunately.

Although the Cayman seem overpriced most of the people who have driven it have been blow away and have infact bought one instead of a Carrera. There seem to be more to it than what meets the eye. From what I ahve read the Cayman is a unique car in the Porsche line up and offers unique driving experience.

I haven't seen the car int he flesh yet but I know that silver doesn't bring out the best in some cars.

Porsche should have made it a targa. Roadster like coupes just don't sell well here, the Crossfire and Z3 Coupe are both good examples.

A targa would have made it too flexible to be the driving experieince it is. I know its a great driving car, but I also know people who ordered one and when it came down to it they couldn't justify the price increase over a Boxster cabrio. The people who know its a great driving car also realize for the most part that it is underpowered. I went online to the Porsche configurator and by the time I added sport package, wheels, ceramic brakes, etc, I was up to $90,000. I think to drive one back to back with a 911 most would want 911 if cost was not an option. Of course if the Cayman (no S) is priced right, it could be a winner in the market. It would have made much more sense to market Cayman S as what it is, a Boxster coupe, and price it accordingly with coupe less than cabrio like all other car lines. Most are catching on that Porsche is just fishing for a way to increase their profit margin even more (which they are very good at).

Just a couple of weeks ago I testdrove a Cayman S with PASM and really liked the ride. The car felt focused and steady with plenty of punch for me. Obviously nothing like a 993 Turbo I once drove, but the seat of the pants feel is that the punch is comparable to a BMW 545. But a great all-round car. When I testdrive cars in our area I always request that we drive over one of the several bad railway crossings we have here. This car was the first one that did not feel that it was going to break when I went over those railways with a little bit of speed. In fact it went over them in a very solid, fairly smooth, and controlled manner.
To arrive at a conclusion re: how do I feel about the looks of the car seems to be a somewhat difficult thing to do. Seeing the Cayman S together with the 911s in the showroom makes me think most of the time that it is the better looking of the cars. But I can also understand how someone thinks that the Cayman S doesn't look like much in the streets. And yet the 911s do. So, I am undecided as to which route to go when choosing a new car. Maybe that's a good thing since there's nothing wrong with my current car. One thing that is in the Cayman's favor is that it starts at about $58,000 whereas I would have to find a another $22,000 - $23,000 to get another 30hp in a Carrera 2.

I saw a Black/Tan Cayman S when I was over at a Porsche Dealership in S. Korea. I love the looks of it, to be honest. A nice, flowing design, with gorgeous hips and an agressive back-end.

I have always heard this, it is on the heels of the 911. It is an awesome car after all it is a porsche.
And I know silver doesn't look good on some cars and it's supposed to be a color of wealth and distinction.

^^
Give the car 400hp+ and it will probably be the most rewarding sports car out there.
