I have been on the track now at the same time as 2 different Caymans and I can't say I was impressed with their performance, but that is probably more down to the driver. As far as vs. a Z06 on a track, on most tracks a Z06 would be faster than the Cayman S. Torque is the deciding factor on most tracks. Cornering speed is very important, but acceleration down the straights more than makes up for it on most tracks.
I did talk to a guy who has one last weekend and he was complaining that it does not have much power. |
This is really very expensive, but than again comparing it to a Carrera it's worth it IMO, the Carrera S is another thing.
Now to this thing about handling, there was the 944 but that didn't killed the 911, on the other hand there was a 912, witch was more fun, more friendly and more forgiving than the 911 and cheaper so it outsold the 911.
So the jury is still.

As to Deutsch, on BMW, there several cars witch had superior driving dynamics to Porsche.
The old 318 would still slap Porsche Bettle derived 64, 356/1, 356 A, silly and had a refinement that Porsche only achieved decades later.
Then there was the 2002, it was lighter, smaller than a 911, and in agility it was the 911 that felt like the sedan, and the 2002 that felt like the sport car.
The 2002 Tii used it's superior driving to challange the more powerfull Porsches, as did the 3.0/3.5 CLS.
Now it seems to be the other way around.
