Post End of CGT production. - 04-12-2006, 04:25 PM

Today my dear ladies(if there are any on this board) and gentlemen the 1500th CGT rolled of the prodcution line and marked the end of the production of the Porsche super sports car. Over half of the cars produced have been sold in the US and for you who don't know the CGT production began September 2004.

^^
To be hoenst I'm happy that the production has ended at 1500th. Porsche enthusiasts like me and CGT owners are probably not that happy with seeing CGTs sitting on dealership floors. The car is one of the best cars out there and should be a true exotic e.i having a long waiting list and not sitting on dealerships floors like Gallardos.
Additionally a limited number of cars increases the resale value of the car. Just look at the Ferrari, used Enzos are being sold for up to three times the sticker price.

Does anyone know how much this project was and if Porsche made any money on it? Actually, I'm sure they did 1500 cars is quite a lot for such a hefty price tag.

bum-man: I don't know about the profit figure but judging from the numbers of cars sold I assue that they have made some profit. Still Supers cars aren't meant to be cash cows, they are often build to strengthen the brands image and to be used as a weapon in the war of prestige and ultimate performance.

IMO Porsche don't need to rush and slap the earht with a replacement. The competition has by tweeking and giving their cars power upgrades just recently managed to slightly beat the car around the ring. The CGT has made it's mark and is probably only of the top three best sports cars out there.

Where did this information come from? Last I heard production was cut to 2250.

Production costs of the CGT were largely covered by the racing department in developing the V10.
