This is truly tragic.
One of history's greatest cars

Lets just hope Porsche comes out with another supercar soon to set the benchmark in performance once again.

Nothing official from Porsche AG?
The 1,111th CGT was produced months ago and now they've made the 1,500th? That's 389 CGT's in four months, that's too close to what they produce in a year, no?

That's a shame, I guess I'll miss mine... I was saving my money but I'm still a little short!

I'll try to look it up and confirm the 1500 production number. Any how this is kind of emotional. Another good chapter closed, can't wait for the next super car from Porsche.

This is an interesting question thinking back to the 959. Apparantly the cost to manufacture a 959 was 2 to 3 times what they charged for the car. Once Ferdinand Piech found out about that, it wasn't long before two great guys departed from Porsche. But at the time the Porsche family members probably did not realize how much the development of this car laid the foundation for the coming generations of the 911.
It would be interesting to know whether there are any parallels between the impact of the 959 and the impact of the CGT.

I've seen that link too. I guess I have received the wrgon info. I'll try to see if there is some reliable information on the Porsche website.

I've read an interview in EVO that Porsche is focusing on Panamera and they won't be making CGT replacement so soon!

Well, let's hope it'll be as awesome as Carrera GT was!!

WCF article:

Even in an economic climate that did not favor products in this segment of the market, Porsche’s V-10 powered supercar has sold in unprecedented numbers. More than 1,270 Carrera GTs have been sold since its introduction in late 2003. To date, 604 have found homes in North America. This figure represents a greater number than the total production of the McLaren F1, Ferrari Enzo, and Pagani Zonda models combined

The Porsche Carrera GT first went on sale in North America on January 31, 2004, and pricing for this ultimate Porsche supercar is $440,000 (USD).

The car went on went on sale on my birthday, imagine that!
