  | The end for Carrera GT...  Last week, the last Carrera GT was assembled at the assembly line in Leipzig. The 460000 euros model was a really big success for Porsche. Since 2004, Porsche has built 1282 units. The GT was meant to be a competitor for the Le Mans, but the initial plan has been changed. Based on the GT1, the Carrera GT should have been replaced the 1980 959. It weights 3042 lbs and is powered by a V10 engine with an output of 600 hp at 8400 rpm. The Carrera GT makes the 0 to 60 mph sprint in 3.9 seconds and reaches the 200 km/h in less than 10. It has a top speed of 205 mph. The Carrera GT will be replaced by Panamera on the assembly lines of the Leipzig factory. Source: Le Blog Auto

| Re: The end for Carrera GT... I know that as well, but Mr. Bartek's article says 19th of May, 2007 and mine (link above) says May 21st.  And btw, didn't they say last year that production ended with total of 1,111 units? Something like that, correct me if i'm wrong. And these articles say 1282 units.

Yes, that's very strange. What I also noticed is that a few other websites have this listed as recent news  Mind you - this particular article says they built 1,282. When I last saw this article (May '06) it said 1,270 had sucessfully been built. These articles are implying they produced an extra 12 cars for '07 I think the article got reprinted by accident. | |
