I also still like the XJ – and I would also drive one. It's one of these cars, when you get in, you will forget every stress and it's just relaxing.

Excellent photos and write-up!

I like the lighting in your photos! In some photos the effect appears to be almost HDRish! What camera are you using?

Good stuff!

Thanks Wimmer. The camera I'm using is an Canon IXUS 70. Bought a cheap 2GB card for it last week which was a massive upgrade from the bundled 32MB SD-card. Felt I bit constrained walking around with a 80GB MP3 Player while my camera could only hold a sissy 32MB worth of pictures.

That camera sounds pretty awesome! I've seen your photos in the Spotted Today threads and I've been meaning to comment on the "HDRish" appearance of them!

Yeah the camera is terrific but to be fully honest all the magic is done in photoshop. All images I post have been reworked in photoshop. That's where I polish them up, hence the HDR and various light effects you might have seen.

I have a IXUS 75 (my previous was a IXUS 55) and I like Canon. Good camera with a good price IMO.

Re: Motor Expo: X6 test drive, Zonda F, DBS,XF , Phaeton, M3 DCT etc.

Mercedes-Benz

The second German giant exhibiting at the show is Mercedes, Audi were sadly not there this year. The line of cars crought were a bit unimaginative. A silver SL350, C-class estate, CLS and a highly unpopular R-class.

If there's one of them that stood out, it was the CLC but not a in positive way. It was close to impossible not getting drawn to the car by it's over dimensioned Dracula-styled tail lights. The looks absolutely horrendous in real life, much worse than in the press shots. I have close to zero interest in owning that car and at the price of a C-class saloon I predict it will flop. What I didn't mind was the interior which like I predicted all along would be of high quality. Everything felt right and the fit and finish was better than the 1-series.

Like seen in the photos the facelifted SL was there but didn't look its best due to the lame choice of exterior colour. So I wasn't as overwhelmed as I wanted to be. But I was happy to see that the "CPU-fans" in the head rests weren't visible at all, which is funny since they are very exposed in almost all images I've seen here in the forums. Very strange. I had a seat inside and the new steering is lovely. My only complaints were the feel of the buttons surrounding the gear lever. Sadly the MB press officer wasn't present so I got zero answers on questions regarding the S-class facelift, SLC, SL65 BS and new generation A+B-class.
