***Wimmer's GENEVA 2008 CAR SHOW Photos (Part 8)***

HONDA

I was eager to check out the new Accord. It looked great in the press photos and as it turned out, it looked great in real life too. I liked the exterior design and the interior was gorgeous. Great build quality and design. My only complaint was that for tall people like me, the driver's seat had to be pushed back quite a bit - and that meant the shifter on the M/T models was out of reach since it was positioned so closely to the center console. Other than that it is a lovely car and one of my top 10's at the show.

HUMMER

Nothing new here. This is really the first time I got to see one upclose and personal. They're huge and that's about it.

HYUNDAI

Hyundai wasn't going to be a major stopping point in my book. I merely wanted to see the Grandeur and the Sonata upclose. Prior to the show I've been very impressed with the Grandeur, but upon sitting inside it I was a bit disappointed with the extremely cheap and bland looking interior. Something like this doesn't belong in an upscale mainstream sedan these days. The Sonata on the other hand was just perfect. I've seen only a few around in Germany. Seems to me that Europeans still prefer either European or Japanese in this class.

INFINITI

With Nissan getting ready to launch their luxury brand in Europe, it was time for Infiniti to display their cars here in order to attract customers. The main impression I got was that youngsters were quite fascinated with the cars, especially the G37 coupe and sedan. I personally wasn't attracted to the FX50 and EX37, but the G37 coupe and sedan were decent looking. On the inside I felt the interiors were well made but pretty much on par with the rest of the competitors in this class.

The FX50...well, it just didn't speak to me at all. Any plans of a diesel engine? An SUV with a big gas-guzzling V8 won't find many friends over here, even amongst the wealthy...

IRMSCHER

The Opel tuner had a pretty sweet version of the Opel GT at the show.

Nope. I don't think they would have showcased it in the Hyundai stand anyway. Like Toyota does with Lexus, they would showcase them in an independent stand which means a Genesis stand. That's my gut feeling.
