'Ring visit, the third installment

We set off for the ring a bit early this time, and we corrected a mistake we made last time. The satnav was set to the shortest route, rather than the quickest, and as it makes a huge difference in germany, we spent too much time last time on B roads. We set off at half past eight and got to the ring around 11. I was quite puzzled by the sheer number of porsches around, nearly every car was one. Either that or an M3.

We scrambled, only to find out that it was a track day from the german car mag Auto Sport and there were passenger lap packages in a race spec renault clio complete with the pit crew and truck. Almost every car there was german and them being sensible, refused to take me on the track due to insurance reasons.

I was a bit disappointed at that but perseverance paid off. Later, a nice race driver chap in a RUF GT2 took me for a blisteringly quick lap. I noted a 270kph at one point in the Driftbox.

The driver then asked me to meet up with him after 5 o'clock so he'd take me around for more laps, so me and Wimmer went around the track to get some pictures.

When we came back at 5, the GT2 dude was no longer there, but I managed to hunt down a guy in a race spec 996 GT3. We did a 7min50 seconds lap----faster than the BMW M5 ring taxi and overtaking several 997 GT3RSs and Turbos in the process. We did the laps in bunches of two and in the first two laps, we were hot in the tail of a Hartmann Mercedes Benz 190D (I think..). It was bloody fast and we managed to overtake it only in the last few corners. The third and fourth laps were a battle to pass a replica Tokyo Drift evo that was spine bendingly fast and sublime through the corners, the Porsche didnt stand a chance until two thirds of the ring when we over took it. Immediately after that the Zakspeed viper overtook us and for a whole lap we were in its tail. That stands to reason how good my driver and car was.

Here are the pics.

Hope you like the pics. I am not as happy with them as I was on sunday, but I hope to change it on Saturday :P

I did in fact, but my panning wasnt that good, so I wiped it from the camera to save shots. Wimmer snapped it, I am sure.

Had you seen and heard that thing go round Flugplatz, you'd have died on the spot.
