![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Cadillac Escalade gets in on hybrid action While rebadging vehicles is generally not a good idea that can go horribly wrong in the best of circumstances, it seems that Cadillac’s done a pretty good job of differentiating the Escalade from its Tahoe and Yukon brethren. The Escalade’s identity as automotive currency in the hop-hop and overpaid-athlete culture does not seem to be diminished by its working class siblings. That doesn’t mean Cadillac wants to totally alienate the Escalade from the Tahoe and Yukon, especially when there’s hot technology to be shared like GM’s new two-mode hybrid system. GM’s CEO Rick Wagoner recently confirmed that Cadillac would be getting an Escalade Hybrid for the 2008 model year. Still no word on what the vehicle’s actual mileage numbers will be, except for the “25-percent gain in fuel economy” chorus that’s constantly being sung. Inside Line goes so far as to guesstimate the Escalade Hybrid would achieve close to 30-mpg highway. We think that’s a bit optimistic, but GM hasn’t stepped up to tell anyone otherwise.

It gets a real 12-16mpg hwy, adding 25% is 3-4mpg more. Which is 15mpg-20mpg hwy... 30... Damn thing would be as good as Toyota or Honda economy Hybrid... Seems very wrong too me.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Cadillac Escalade gets in on hybrid action I think it's very possible that the Escalade hybrid could achieve 30mpg. Easily. There is already a Tahoe hybrid w/ that capability, though the hp may be less. Point is, they have the tech to achieve that kind of a possiblity. Even though we may live in a world full of 10 - 12 mpg SUV's, the world is changing. On another note, when I sat in the new Escalade at the L.A. show the interior was very much up to the snuff of the competiton. I was exteremely impressed. I would consider buying an EXT in the future(if I dont' buy an Avalanche first). |

Trucks and SUV's are an American phenomenon that only Americans seem to grasp. I love trucks, not so hot on SUV's. If it wasn't for my Dad's(at the time) Super Duty Black F150 raised w/ the lights running across the top on a bar(I'm ashamed I dont' know the name of the age old truck acessory). That got me started on trucks, and thanks to that truck I'll always have a love for trucks. My second word.Last edited by Deutsch; 02-05-2006 at 07:43 PM. | |

I wonder if Eisenmann can do a custom setup for Chevy? I'm proud to be an American!!! |
