I think they had a problem with the strength of the frme , when they attempted to put the Kompressor with the 55AMG engine, we discussed this back in the original GCF once...

I just dont rmemeber all the detail.

But still too much for such a little car.

Well someone has to go forward with it.. im pretty damn sure that the next M3 after this will be pushing over 500hp...
And by then it will be okay.. so i say good for MB to lead the HP race..

PS
Dont know about that frame thing.. but afaik the 55 kompressor engine didnt make it to the C... by the way i think they can pull it off cause the 55 engine has like 700nm.. and the 63 has 600 something.. ohh and its pretty light weight the new one.. lighter than the M V10

Im all for projects, lets see what they will turn out... key here is not the power, its the reliabilty and safety.

Anyone can throw a big engine in a car, but if the car cant handle it there are many problems that come with that.

Re: M3 and RS4 KILLA - 11-07-2005, 01:20 PM

Well im confident that MB wont just take a ordinary 55 C and put this engine in and call it a day.. thats not how things work over at MB..

PS
Lets just see what happens with it.. ohh and if this happens.. then we could expect more HP for S CL and SL 63´s---maybe even E and CLS 63

Like I said earlier, this smells like the E65 and CLS65 story.

C63 Amg? - 11-07-2005, 03:03 PM

here's a version from emercedesbenz.com

Are you tired of the measly 363 horsepower C55 AMG? Do you sit cowering in the corner at night worried that BMW's upcoming M3 will run circles around your poor little C-Class?

If rumors are true, you may soon be able to rest a little easier. Autocar has captured what are believed to be photos of an upcoming Mercedes C63 AMG. Yes, that's right... no more puny 5.5-Liter 363 horsepower V8 producing 376 lb-ft of torque; real men want an earth-bending 6.3-Liter 510 horsepower V8 producing 465 lb-ft of torque.

What this means in plain English: this car will be fast, very fast.

Now before you get your hopes up, I must warn you - Autocar is also reporting the C63 probably won't be scheduled for series production. It will, however, be produced in limited numbers, for 'preferred' customers.

What this means in plain English: you gotta be rich, very rich.

Oh well, I guess that exludes me. You know, I could always opt for the 2.5-Liter 201 horsepower C230, throw a C63 badge on it, and tell everyone I'm too cool to drive fast... or not.

As always, stay tuned and we'll keep you updated if we get any more details on the C63.

Since when does small not equal a track car? The Elise is very small and is definitely a track car.

Doubtfull, If Mercs convertibles can handle 600+hp and the most torque a production car (exception: Veyron) has ever seen without perminantly tweaking the chassis I would be hard pressed to say the shorter chassied C-class can cope. Traction shouldn't be an issue either if they are widening the rear subframe and putting beefier tires, which looks to be the case with the flared fenders. BTW, they already lost 6 kilos in the front just by adding that engine.

Lesson of the day, car structural rigidity has nothing to do with how massive the car is.

Hehehe... thats not what i meant.... size had nothing to do with it. Im saying as the car is to drop an engine that size into it would be too much power, the car would need a redesign and some substanial changes to handle that power.

Again in the origianl GCF we had a topic discussing why the C55 didn't get the Kompressor, there were some issues regarding the frame of the car, and the amount of power the car can handle without being unstable.
