"... assembly line in Sindelfingen
* Approximately 630,000 C-Class sedans produced at Sindelfingen plant
* Best-selling Mercedes-Benz C-Class in company's history Stuttgart/Sindelfingen, Dec 14, 2006
With only a few weeks left to go until the world premiere of the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the last 203 series sedan is rolling off the assembly line today at the Sindelfingen plant. The milestone vehicle, an iridium silver C 230 sedan, is destined for a customer in the U.S. The production of the last car of the series provided Vice President and Manager of the DaimlerChrysler plant in Sindelfingen: “Since the series was launched in 2000, the employees at the Sindelfingen plant have produced about 630,000 units of the sedan for customers all over the world,” he said. “Every single vehicle is an expression of their expertise and their attention to detail. I would like to thank all of the employees for making the C-Class what it is today: one of the most popular automobiles in the upper mid-range segment."
As the successor of the 202 Series, the W 203 sedan continued the success story of its predecessor by becoming the best-selling C-Class in the company's history. " - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER

Already? They must have thousands of these stacked up for the U.S. market seeing as how they sell about 4500 units a month and the W204 doesn't come here until next summer at the earliest.
No shot of the W203 in the backgroud like they did when W220 production ended?
So far I'm not at all teary eyed at all over this one being put down.

Is the C-Class only produced at Sindelfingen? If they spread around the assembly, then it's possible that the built-up supply would be greater than the article would suggest. | | | | | Expert

I'm currently driving a 2007 C280 and it is hard to find much wrong with this car. Is the fanciest? No. Is it the best handling? No. Is the styling dated? Yes. Is the standard option list a little shallow? Sure. But the C, has a solidness, sure footedness, and overall quality that I love. Sure the early vehicles were not what they should have been, but the latest offerings have little to apologize for. The C-drives with the smoothness and quietness of a much larger car. The car is able to conform between the twists of mountain roads and open highways without a hitch. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to tennmb For This Useful Post: | | | The Photo Phanatic

Too many people still bash the facelifted W203 C-Class because the original W203 was such a poor quality car. With the facelift, the criticisms were taken to heart and improved. I always felt that the facelifted W203 C-Class has matured into a decent car that was more competitive than the original W203. It wasn't class leading, but it was somewhere in the middle. Not too sporty, but sporty enough, comfortable, quality and solidity feel to it etc.
I expect the W204 to be better: much better.  | | | | | Expert
