Yeah Artist I agree with your comments, the instruments looks classy, I prefer it to the CLS's.

Well, the screen on the speedo looks better if it's fully round like in the CLS (and E, CLK). Also a clock looks classier than joint temp and fuel gauge. OK, it's not a big deal but still I prefer the CLS' instruments.

To tell you the truth, I love the new W204 EXCEPT the rear tails light. Everything looks so kewl and new I could drool all over my clothes. But, the tail lights... well... I like the W203 design over these new ones. It just does not give you that MB style thingy.

Of course, I see that they reused the rear light design of the new slk(r171) but it just doesn't seem to work on the W204.

It would have been nice to go with the new-S tail light design but I guess we can't have'em all.

I think I'll buy a new '06 W203 in stock of which I can get a great deal, ride it for like 3~4 years and when time comes for the W204 to have it's facelift, change my car at that point.

I get your point. DPT is a fantastic piece of instrument. But that's just what it is! an instrument!

It will allow a good engineer to develop a good car, and it will make him/her look even better. But it will not make an average or a bad engineer any better.

It's like saying that an artist will draw the most beautiful painting in the world if they have the best equipment. We know thats not true beacause a lot of it relies on the skill, imagination and talent of the artist.

DPT is a fantastic piece of kit, but it will never replicate the tangible components that make a car. It will not know if a car is good-looking, it will not know if the car feels good to drive, and it will never be able to factor in all the conditions of reality. A lot of the qualities that make a car special rely on human sences- not what a computer tells you.

What you said that the having DPT as a tool is going to make a better car than a 3 series is rather short-sighted and immature. The engineers define what makes the car good, it's their mijnds and their imaginations that make the difference. The computer only acts as a tool/instrument.
