ADAC Breakdown Statistics: The Mercedes-Benz C-Class can be relied upon

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

Stuttgart, Germany, Jun 03, 2009

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class takes first place in its segment in the latest ADAC breakdown statistics. According to surveys carried out by the largest European automobile club, this makes it the most reliable car in the medium class.

The breakdown statistics are based on the practical, day-to-day experiences of the breakdown assistance personnel from the ADAC, Europe's largest automobile club. These statistics, which are published every year, therefore reflect what actually happens and provide solid information about the reliability of specific vehicle models. For the latest, extensive collation of data, cars first registered between 2003 and 2008 (of which at least 10,000 were registered each year) which had suffered a breakdown for technical reasons were recorded. Among all medium-class cars, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class proved to be the least susceptible to breakdowns.

Our C has been flawless since day 1, not like our previous CLK, E (which was particularly trouble prone) and S. LOVE IT!

ahmet_cagri is on a distinguished road
A smaller one, but still a purebred Mercedes-Benz.

There are also many W203 owners I know in Mühldorf who have no trouble with their cars. When something goes wrong it usually something small and hardly worth mentioning (like a defect wiper blade or something miniscule along those lines that has nothing to do with reliability) that then gets blown out of proportion by the retards that participate in Consumer Reports.

Fair enough it doesn't reflect reliability. But it really impacts on the ownership experience, satisfaction and perception of quality. When you buy a Benz, you pay for and expect nothing less then excellence. These little niggles become annoying as hell and start to make you question, was it really worth spending the extra money to buy a benz? Come on, how enjoyable could your smooth as silk ride be if you have a wiper blade stuttering across the windscreen and an ashtray rattle then just doesn't seem to go away no matter what you do! Regardless of the fact that you've complained about these items to the dealer 5 times! It's no coincidence that MB has been flying up the consumer charts after addressing these 'minor' issues. That said, the ongoing warning that our SBC brakes were about to fail because of some issue with the battery or alternator or whatever was not a minor issues to us. After spending 3k trying to solve the issue (out of warranty) and MB still having no clue what was wrong, we ditched the E-class and bought the X5.

Seriously, to date the C has been far, far, far more satisfying to own then the previous, E, S or CLK (Knock on wood). I have lofty expectations when we get the new E class in August.
