Just got the new C class - Round 3

OK guys it's your member M. Toni here and another year is around so time for a new C class. As you may have read I was one of the first to get the new C class and started with just C 220 CDI Avantgarde. Wasn’t happy with the 4 cylinder rattle so got the C 320 CDI Avantgarde but with the normal transmission.
So this year I decided I move it up a little and got the C 320 CDI Avantgarde but with the AMG Sport package and a 7G automatic transmission.

So what do you get with the AMG Sport package – well at first glance not much but in reality you do. So let’s see – there is the AMG styled front and rear bumper and also side skirts. You also get the AMG branded rims. Plus the whole ride of the car compared to the normal Avantgarde is 1,5 cm shorter and brake discs on the front have holes through them. There is also a plate on the front brake calipers with the Mercedes – Benz name on it.
On the inside you get the aluminum pedals and AMG branded floor mats. You also get a three spoke steering wheel and also the dashboard is different as it is curved like in the AMG. One of the marvels is also completely black inside of the roof so you feel much sportier than the dull gray everyone else has. Oh and let’s not forget the seats which are stitched differently and offer more side support than in the normal Avantgarde.

And because my car is already treated as 2009 model you get new side view mirrors similar to those the new E class is going to get. But enough with words let’s see the pictures.

This time around I went with the silver color as Mercedes has always been known as Silver arrow and now I got mine. Here is the beast in random shots.

Here is the front and rear AMG bumper, AMG side skirts and rims. I also chose silver color because black inserts in the bumpers are much more visible on this color than it would be on black.

As mentioned before you get new side view mirrors on 2009 model and here they are. They are significantly smaller and look sharper in terms of design than the older ones did.

Ok so that is from the outside. Let’s check out the inside. First you get greeted by the three spoke steering wheel and AMG branded floor mats.

And once you sit behind the steering wheel you will get a look at a much more sportier AMG curved dashboard. Normal Avantgarde has the dashboard straight down.

And when you look up you are going to cherish the black inside of the roof as it makes you feel that the car has a much sportier pedigree especially with this engine.

Last but not least are the seats. They may look like those in the Avantgarde but they are really not. They are stitched in differently and also the side support is better and holds you more in than in the regular Avantgarde.

Oh yes almost forgot – I went with a 7G automatic this time and because I got the AMG sport package I also got the shift paddles behind the steering wheel. Pretty cool.

Well there isn’t much more to say anymore as I have owned 3 different C 320 CDI C Classes in the last 4 years. The ride is superb and the 7G is a marvel it works like a dream you almost never know when it shifts and only look on the revometer reveals the gearbox intentions.

For all of you who want a powerful, sporty and fresh looking design – C 320 CDI + AMG sport package is the winner but bear in mind that consumption will be a little higher than on C 220 CDI after all this is a V6. But if I would have to choose between a C350 gas version and this – I would take the diesel anytime as it has more torque and smokes the gas version especially when accelerating from 160 km/h onward. Torque is just too immense and before the gas versions gets to its power zone I’m gone gone baby.

Congratulations on your new C! The new mirrors looks so much better then the first ones.

hey congrats on you new 3rd stunning c class congrats man. would you suggest me to make a upgrade from a 220 cdi to a 320 cdi.....

nice looking car great with the amg package mate congrats again stunning car...

He he - go for it you will not regret it. The car has so much power that you will forget C 220 CDI the first minute you will sit and drive a 320 CDI.

And with the new mirrors they just gave the C class - I would suggest you get the upgrade if you have the chance. This mirrors make the car look so much better and since the E is coming real soon and the mirrors will be almost the same you can't go wrong with the 320 CDI.

Just one question - do any of you who have W204 C class and an automatic with 7G have the same function as the E class when braking. I mean when you brake and bring the car to a halt and still have it in D and than push the brake a little more does the car stay stopped?

I can't seem to work it out on this car it just doesn't stay stopped even if I push the brake in little harder the car just goes on.

As far as I understand the C-class does not have the SBC Hold feature like the E-Class. The S-class however does.

Great looking car there Toni. I hope ours has the new side mirrors as well.
