looks like you really enjoyed the testdrive! the pictures are great, a lot of them! the new avantgarde grille is just fabulous and you took a stunning pic of it!
i personally couldn't find enough good points to justify for the pretty expensive AMG package though. i have to agree that the C220 CDI was a bit slow on the response, especially when compared to the C200 K. but i found that lag acceptable
thanks for the review
would you be able to upload the pic with the grille and the lovely skyline on a hosting site? or maybe all the 79pics? ahh, whatever is convenient for you i love the pics, would especially appreciate any interior pics too | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to katkat33 For This Useful Post: | | | Aficionado

Nice shots indeed Mr. Wimmer. Beautiful.
The new sport suspension is great, I know, I've tried it myself. My main question is. Have you driven the C350 sport? How does this engine compare to the new 350? I know it has less power, obviously, but if this is almost as fun to drive as the 350 then this would be a pretty good bargain. Of course, this car looks amazing in any color, especially with the AMG package.

Agreed. The slight delay in the C220 CDI engine response is most likely do to the combination with the automatic transmission. In the manual version I've heard this isn't so much the case.
But overall, I found the C200 Kompressor to be an excellent car. It's fun to drive and the engine is refined and sporty and not slow at all. If I were shopping for a gasoline-powered C-Class at the moment, the C200 Kompressor would be my choice hands down. I don't really need the performance of a C350 etc.
About the pictures, send me a PM with your email address and I will personally send you some of the best ones. It's no problem at all. | | | | | The Photo Phanatic

Thanks for the review. | Anytime.
I've not driven the C350 at all sadly. Where I live people don't usually go for the big engines, so the dealer doesn't order them. Sometimes if we're lucky there will be a C320 CDI here, but those are rare cases. I've driven the ML350, CLS350 and the E350 T-Modell (this one on the lot though) but the engine isn't bad at all. It's quite refined, powerful and the engine response is great, so I imagine it will retain those qualities in the C350 W204. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to cawimmer430 For This Useful Post: | | | Member

Great review and pics Christian.
And yes, I'm starting to appreciate the darker interior colours more to, for the same reasons, albeit light interior colours bring out a sense of classical elegance, but are not available for the avant-garde.
Just to clarify a point - there is the 'normal' avantgarde suspension, then 'sport's' suspension, and then advanced agility control with the electroncially variable dampers, so in a sense three available suspension choices?
Is that right please?
Kind regards
John... | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Benzboi_inoz For This Useful Post: | | | Junior Member

Your pictures are really outstanding.Very nice review also.
I have to say i agree 100 percent.I own a c200 amg package for one week now and i can tell you i am really impressed from the car.
Originally i was a BMW fan but after a week with this car i dont know.
1.You can feel quality all around you its for sure 1 step higher than the 320series.
2The agility system suspension had achieve something that i thought it was impossible.Smooth absorption on bumpy road and stiff on cornering.
Its giving you a fell that even if you get in a corner completly wrong(higher speed, wrong positioning of the car) something like magic is happening and its correcting and forgiving any mistake you make.
And the best thing about it is that you dont feel that the car is taking over the drive from you.
3.Brakes are also unbilievable braking even from high speeds is happening with no big drama the car just stops exactly when you want it.
4.Fast acceleration for the c200 is something that you have to ask hardly from the car but if yhou do so and the revs climb a little bit then it just flyes like a rocket.
5.Handling is also a beuty responsive and quick steering like your are beeing chased by 100 cops can happen easily and without you worry about nothing.
Like Kimi driving in F1 ,like you are cruising in a mountain road.
6.Styling forget about is just put a c200 picture next to 320 series , the end.
7.I test drove 320 series against c200 again and again and again because i couldnt believe that the merc is winning by hurt (and my money) against the BMW but it did.
Overall the new c200 is a really very good package against any other competitor in the market right now.

As far as I know, there's the normal suspensions for Classic, Elegance and Avantgarde (with the first two being the same and the later slightly harder) and then we have the sports suspension, which I believe is part of the AMG body kit here or can possibly be ordered separately. I am not too sure where the electronic variable dampers you mentioned fit it. Perhaps someone here knows about this? | | | | | The Photo Phanatic
