Re: Brabus Bullit Black Arrow headed for Geneva

The regular C63 has matched that 0-60 time according to Car and Driver. Still too much money for a C-Class, no matter how fast it is. I'd rather have a Maybach 57S or SL63 and a CL65. I'd love to know how many of these things Brabus sells a year. They make stock AMGs look like poor folks cars.

The only thing missing from the first picture is David Hasselhoff with a speech bubble saying "Knight, Michael Knight".

Car and Driver -- Brabus Bullit

2008 Brabus Bullit - Auto Shows
The new C-class is turned into a real piece of ammunition.

BY ERIK JOHNSON
September 2007

Brabus—tuner of all things Benz-ish—has done its magic to the '08 Mercedes-Benz C-class, turning the little luxury sedan into a four-wheeled warhead capable of more than 224 mph. And it's gone and named the damned thing Bullit.

But before you get too worked up, note that Brabus's Bullit is spelled with only one "t." Of course, most enthusiasts know the name Bullitt (with the extra "t") from the iconic 1968 movie starring a certain Ford Mustang piloted by some guy named Steve McQueen. In German, however, bullit translates as, well, nothing as far as we can tell, although the meaning is quite clear: This car can haul.

Besides the ludicrous top speed, Brabus claims this hi-po four-door goes from 0 to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds, hits 124 mph in a shade under 10.5, and hits 186 in just 18.6 seconds. Brabus press materials quote the availability of two different final-drive ratios: 2.65:1, which allows for a top end of 196 mph, or 2.24:1, which allows for a governed 217-mph limit. So the 224-mph number is likely just a bragging point, but who cares? We sure don't.

And neither will you once you hammer your right clodhopper into the throttle, which just so happens to be connected to a 720-hp, 6.2-liter twin-turbo V-12. Out of the car, the engine is capable of producing a peak torque figure of 974 pound-feet at 2100 rpm (can you say holy crap?), although this figure is limited to a wuss-tastic 811 pound-feet at the same 2100 rpm when the 12-pot beast is installed, likely in the interest of drivetrain preservation.

The car also gets a bunch of body mods, aero tweaks, and suspension upgrades, including huge fender flares, an aluminum hood with integrated cooling ducts, front and rear carbon-fiber spoilers, and adjustable coil-over shocks. As for the brakes, 15.0-inch discs in the front and 14.2-inch discs in the back provide enough friction to haul the car down from suborbital launches.

The Bullit is special order only and starts at the low, low price of €348,000, which is roughly $480,000.

Top Gear Article:

May 12, 2008

Das eco-tuning

You know the green revolution is in full swing when the German über-tuners are getting in on the eco-act.

Brabus, the Mercedes tuning house behind the absurd SV 12 Biturbo S Roadster and the even-more-absurd Bullit, has announced a range of green tuning kits for Mercedes diesels.

The kits can be fitted to any of the brand's CDI models and will, according to Brabus, reduce CO2 emissions and fuel consumptions. It should make Brabus the first tuner to meet the 2001 Euro V emissions regulations.
Fear not, though - Brabus adds that the diesel tuning kits will, erm, boost power and torque output, too. Old habits die hard and all that...

It's OK, no harm done. The Advanced search usually works better than the regular one.
