C280 Upgrades

Hi, I own a 1999 Mercedes Benz C280 Sport Sedan. I was wondering what kind of upgrades were available and what kind of extra performance I could expect. Performance now isn't bad, but for what I would like it is a little shabby, topping out around 131. I was also wondering if anybody knew the speed the stock tires are rated for, I am not sure if my tires are just getting old or if the high speed driving has worn them down. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated!

Re: C280 Upgrades

Welcome.

I'm a Mercedes fan but I know nothing about tuning. I tend to prefer to keep cars stock.

EDIT: I moved your thread to the Mercedes-Benz C-Class section. This way, it will get more exposure.

Thanks. Anyway, I'm just not that impressed with the performance (although it is no slug), and I love the interior so I'd rather keep this than get a tuner.

Re: C280 Upgrades

I think the C-Class tuning scene really started when the W203 C-Class came along. The only tuned W202 C-Classes I know are from ///AMG in the form of the C36, C43 and C55 AMG.

Re: C280 Upgrades

You may want to check with Brabus.

I think it is one of the more reputable tuner for a Benz.

Having said that, I do prefer to keep the car stock as well.

Re: C280 Upgrades

Nothing on Brabus's site for the C280 =(
It doesn't have to be a tuner company. Any links to parts or performance kits would be acceptable as well, since I could install it myself of have the local mechanic help out.

Re: C280 Upgrades

You should check out the performance products from Kleeman if you're looking for a brand name Mercedes Benz tuner.

For your W202 C280, they do offer various performance upgrades for your engine. Options includes a supercharger, headers, (maybe camshafts), ECU re-program, exhaust, upgraded suspension/springs, etc.

Their website is:

Check out "club202.com"
They know just about anything to do with the W202.

I think Brabus offered a sports high lift camshaft kit for the C280 engine a while ago, so you can look them up.
