Welcome back ladies and gentlemen; I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. As you're undoubtedly aware, last week heralded the launch of the highly-anticipated 2008 Mercedes C-Class, and with it an influx of press releases dedicated to that very subject. And while by-and-large I managed to publish the bulk of the press releases pertaining to the new model, there is one photo collection that I didn't quite manage to get to - a photo collection that accompanies each new Mercedes model release - and a photo collection that to me is always one of the most interesting to view.

That photo collection is a look at the 2008 Mercedes C-Class evolution, from its humble beginnings as a mere artist's sketch all the way through its final, completed design. How did designers originally envision the new model? What elements were used as design inspiration for the final production vehicle? These are just some of the topics you'll witness when viewing the 2008 C-Class photo montage below.

I wish I could get my hands on one of their models!

I applied for a job at the DCX design department - just for fun - despite not having the studies behind me they were looking for. Needless to say they didn't take me.

And yet, this looks like such a fun and easy job.

It sure does. Too bad such an interior couldn't see the light of day. Looks like a nice progression from what we've already seen in the SL.

Nice to see these photos. Now I can (presumably) put a face to the people who've been screwing up Benz dial design for the past 3 years!

I think the dials have looked awesome the past three years especially after the ugly dials of the initial W203.

Glimpse of the C Coupe or the next CLK???

Look at the model on the table next to the pillar in the background. It is a coupe. Could this be the coming C Coupe? or the next CLK? The bumper looks like the one on the CLK sketch below, but the side is more subdued. It looks more like the side of the new C, although a little more defined.

This is definitely not a model of the current CL because the rear light seems to be a triangle that sweeps downwards, not upwards.

What do you guys think? Any news of the new C Coupe? Will it be a hatchback?
