Today I was actually at the my local Porsche delaership and sat in the 997 and the interior was cramped at all. The ZO6 seem to be a terrific car which offers lots of bang for the buck but the interior lacks quality and detail. The boxter on the other hand offers a very nice interior, great looking exterior, fantastic handling and the "Porsche" factor(if you like braging.

Then there is also the Cayman which seem to be very different from the Boxter. Sicne you are going to spend quite a chunk of money my best advise is to test drive all three cars before you decide. You simply can't buy a sports car without test driving several different cars.

I'd say Vette. I stands out the most of the bunch and is incredible bang for the buck. And your friends won't say it's an old mans car anymore when they see all the chicks it attracts

Cayman and Boxter = Poor man's Porsches. That's the peoples view despite that they'r great cars.

Better a Cayman/Boxer than a VW 914/924 "Porsche".

No no no, that is not how things are these days. Yes the Boxter is less supirior than the 911 but that's becasue it is a roadster and is aimed at people who want a Porsche but don't neccessarily want to spend more than 50k on buying one. The Cayman on the other hand is not less supirior than the 911, the Cayman is a car of it's own. In fact it has better handling than the 911. There are lots of people who have ended up buying a Cayman instead of a 911.
Additionally it doesn't matter which Porsche you own, all of them are great.

Your right, I still urge HALO to choose a Vette. I'm pretty sure it's the one you'll be the most satisfied with

I agree wholeheartedly. Especially in places like Boca Raton or Connecticut, where I spend most of my life and time, and I'm sure this holds in California too, people see a Boxster as a poser's Porsche. It's like the short bus of Porsches, "Aw... how cute, he wanted to drive an expensive car and look like he knows what he's doing, but he's driving a Boxster. Good try, Scooter... work harder and buy yourself a 911."

Even my non-gearhead friends say the Boxster is a wanna-be made-it car.

The Boxter is kind of a poser car but it still is a great car compared with the competitors, its on top of the food chain and is a very compelte sports car. One last thing, the people who says that it is a poor-mans-Porsche are just envious and I'm sure they wouldn't mind owning one.

If you're obsessed with other people's perception of you, buy the Vette. Otherwise go for the Porsche.

Porsche really stepped things up with their new interiors. Unless something specifically irritates you about the Boxster I'd get one. Sure, it's not as fast, but more refined and you'll certainly have the same seat-of-your-pants thrills.
true even though the vette has a new redesigned interior it still looks cheap but I love the look of the car I saw one coming home from work and it was so sweet.

Unless you're an expert or race driver, then IMO the difference between a Boxster and a Cayman wouldn't be such that it would be a deciding factor. A Boxster is a bit cheaper, too.

HID lights on the Vette, well, they're not essential, are they? I would expect you can get them on the Porsches, too, for a price.

IMO, go for the car that you like the interior of, enough. That's where you'll spend most of your time. The performance of any of those cars should be plenty.
thanks man you really opened my eyes on this .
