I've always loved the new twin-turbo coupe & we all know, with nothing extraordinary she is capable to do alot ...!

Here is a test video of Dinan 335i & a (stock) M3 & you are wrong! Figures are not as surprising as results, enjoy :

I saw this and even still I'd buy an E92 M3 over the E92 TTI6 coupe, everytime. The M3 has technology that takes the driving experience to a whole another level. Speed doesn't count for everything.

^^^ The only thing, Dinan 335i is good at is torque & yes, M3 here too, anyday ...!

Why I'd still pick the M3:

Looks better
Sounds better
Can chose suspension setting
LSD
Seats+steering wheel

Those are just few things to list. You can get them pretty cheap now, especially if you lease them. There are good deals going around.

Having said that, I'd be more than happy with a 335i because the M3 is completely out of my league right now. I get to drive a few of them here and they are amazing machines.

There are tuning modifications for the M3 as well, like Kellener if I want a tuned car.

I think the whole point of "tuning" a 335i or 135i is that the twin turbo engine can result in HUGE HP and torque gains for relatively little money. Sure, a tuned 335i is no M3, but the performance per dollar ratio is the real attraction here.

Basically, you can tune the ECU, add headers, intake mods, exhaust mods, suspension mods, and even brake mods to a 335i/135i, and the amount of money you spend would still be far less than a new E92/E90 M3. Straightline acceleration would be on par with the M3, and the handling improved significantly to approach the M3. It is NOT and won't ever be a M3, but you still get one heck of a performance car on and off the track for a lot less money.

Personally, I've resisted the temptation to tune my 135i because of fears of compromising reliability of the turbos and engine, as I do drive this car hard on the track.
