I don't know what's not to like about the retractable hardtop Matt. It's an ovbious head and shoulders improvement over the outoging model and looks a good deal more polished than the competition.

Re: E93 pic thread

I guess im a bit skeptical because it seems like its more of a hinderance than a benefit. First of all when you fold it up its going to take up all this room in teh trunk and make that utterly useless. It doesnt look that great IMO. Its heavy. And it seems like BMW did it just because everyone else did (Mercedes and Lexus). In addition its a lot more mechanics to go wrong. I just dont see the point.

Well the car is obviously not for you. And to be honest, I'd rather have a E92 and load it up with more options. However, the thought of having an open top car that can be used everyday is very tempting.

1. I guarantee you it will look better IRL
2. Performance won't be that much different, in the eyes of most people. We shall find out eventually.
3. People will probably use this as their 2nd car, so lugguage is not their main concern.

For cryin' out loud Matt, the point is that you get a hardtop! It's an end in itself Matt. BMW is making this a hardtop, because people want hardtops.

I think the benefits of having a hardtop are pretty self-evident. Aren't they?

BMW did this because they're a technology-driven company, and full-sized hardtops have finally come of age.

From the sound of things, BMW has managed to leave a resonable amount of space in the boot with the top down.

From my point of view, the HT is great, because you really could use the E93 as a daily driver. The comfort and "domestication factor" of the HT is very appealing to me.

Haha agreed. Eventually, the cabs are going to get good enough that their performance will be identical to their hardtop cousins. Eventually...
