On the other hand, I still don't believe BMW deserves that slogan. The Slogan is more representative of Ferrari then BMW. Especially since they have no supercar present, which in the automobile industry is really recognized as a true segment for "ultimate driving".

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I think that in the luxury car segment BMW still represents just that. Look at the M series cars and the everyday BMWs. They're sportier than anyone else's lineup as a whole. When it comes to sports cars then no, but BMW is a luxury car builder so yes I say the slogan fits in the U.S. There are no FWD BMWs or "Luxury" versions. The 335d is tuned for power as are the upcoming X6 and 7-Series hybrids. M

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I wonder how long it'll take Luw' to enter this thread and say "Nah uh! BMW can't claim that slogan, Porsche is true performance!". Interesting thing is, in some countries (such as Australia), BMW's main slogan is 'Sheer Driving Pleasure' rather than 'The Ultimate Driving Machine'. I still think the slogan is relevant for BMW. Their vehicles driving characteristics haven't deteriorated, and if anything, the cars look more sporty now than a couple of generations ago. The whole 'Joy' thing... hasn't really made much of an impact. Yeah sure their cars may be a real joy to drive, but BMW makes driving machines, not jumping castles or birthday cakes. ![]()

Currently, BMW are not doing a great job living up to their "Ultimate driving machine"-slogan. Things have changed. With the Cayenne and Panamera, Porsche have successfully eaten in to BMW territory and stealing some of their old glory of being at the forefront of road dynamics in the luxury car segment. But overall the slogan is very true, pretty much all beemers has an advantage in driving dynamics over their segment peers. | |

![]() | Very fitting slogan. Driving to me is not only about the performance. A perfect combination of luxury with great performance is the ULTIMATE, well-rounded driving machine. That is what matters to me. BMW M meets the criteria precisely. |
