It's a bit of a shame that the model designation had a meaning in the past, and now it's lost.... It's becoming confusing, and I can't tell what engine size the car has from its name ...

If you take two Vision EfficientDynamics concept's 1.5L 3-cylinder diesel engines and put together you get a 3.0-liter I6 engine with 240 kW and 580 Nm.

The 740d has 225 kW and 600 Nm so I think BMW could easily raise the 740d's power to 240 kW but then it would have exactly the same power figure as 740i but have more torque (740i: 450 Nm). They probably don't want it to step on the toes of its gasoline-engined sister model.

Anyone else see this as the way forward for BMW I6/V6 and V8 engines?

x = Series, 1, 3, 5, 6, 7 etc
Fixed V8 capacity

I'm looking forward to a F10 with a high reving 2.7 I6 with 360 hp )
